The Ivo10 Brazil Football Academy Under-16 team is off to a great start to competition with a draw and two wins in the first three rounds of the 2022 U16 Macau League, including a historic 19-0 thrashing of CPK in the second game. The team led by William Gomes, with the help of Fernando Tifé and Eric Peres, comes from a 1-0 victory over Ching Fung in a clash played on Saturday afternoon (11), at Lin Fong Stadium, in Taipa, Macau. The goal was scored by Thomás.

Current Macau League runner-up, the Ivo10 Brazil U16 is only in its third participation in the competition. The Macau unit of the project, which counts on football athletes Ivo, former Henan Songchan Longmen, from China, and William Gomes, from Ching Fung, from Macau, as well as soccer businessman César Soler, from CSR Sports, as founders, started the activities in Asia on May 1, 2020.

In its first participation in the U16 Macau League, in 2020, a few months after the start of activities, Ivo10 Brazil finished in 4th place, already showing that the work done, even in the short term, would have paid off. In 2021 came the runner-up with the title escaping on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time with Monte Carlo. The goals of the final were scored by Xico, from a penalty, and Anson.

This season the team is off to a rocky start. The debut was against the strong team of Lün Lók, with a game ending in 0 to 0. In the second round a historic result: 19 to 0 over CPK, with goals from Ringo (5x), Big boy (4x), André (3x), Thomás, Jeffery, Ruca, Miguel Rezende, Gilbert, Jeff and an own goal. More recently, in the third round, a 1-0 victory over the mighty Ching Fung, a goal scored by Thomás.

Executive Director of Ivo10 Brazil Macau, and also coach of the U16 team, William Gomes spoke about the team's planning for the season and the evolution of Ivo10 from its first participation to the present day. “Our strength in Macau is up to the U16, from the U8 to the U16 all our teams are competitive, very well trained by our team of coaches. Our U19, which started last year, is made up mostly of boys aged 15 and 16. It could even be stronger, but we are prioritizing the U16. Last year we were runners-up, we went in to win, but it didn't work. This year we are prioritizing and focusing on the U16, which is our flagship, to once again go far in the competition, to fight to be champions like last year”, he began.

“This is our third participation in the U16 Macau League. Last year we lost the final on penalties, but we saw great progress in the boys. We have to highlight the individual and collective growth of our team. In our first participation we were fourth, last year we were runners-up and now, after three rounds, we are among the first. It makes us very proud to see that the work carried out daily at Ivo10 Brazil is paying off. 80% of the athletes that make up our team have been with us since they were 9 years old, even before the start of the Ivo10 project. We will keep working hard, dedicating ourselves to the maximum, always looking for more”, concluded William Gomes.

The Ivo10 Brazil U16 returns to the field in a match valid for the 4th round of the 2022 Macau League on Saturday (25), at 5pm, to face Artilheiros at the Lin Fong Sports Center, in Macau.
